Teaching and Supervision
I consider teaching one of the key academic privileges I take fully seriously.
Philosophy
Each semester the classroom rebuilds itself as a community of inquiry, from what the students bring. My job is to hand them something to build with: ways of reading situations, theory as a tool for thinking past intuition, methods that strengthen arguments. The aim is for each student to leave with a shared core of understanding and a slightly different network of concepts on top of it. Same conversation, different angles.
Growing as individuals by approaching situations with rigour in a context of a supportive community.
Enterprise Architecture
At Ghent I took over a master-level course on enterprise architecture with 250 students when a colleague became unavailable. I redesigned it to connect practical conceptual modelling with the theory of IT management, and built a new group-work project on digital transformation. The course feeds the ArchiTrek work, a tool to make the relationship paths in ArchiMate walkable rather than memorizable. Compulsory master-level in Business Engineering. Innovation Management
At Prague University of Economics and Business I led tutorials and lectured on digital transformation in a compulsory master-level course of about 150 students per semester. I took over as course responsible from Fall 2023 and redesigned the syllabus for Spring 2024. Student feedback ran 96% on interest and 91% on preparation. Redesigned syllabus here as pdf.

Although I write this reluctantly, because I enjoyed Mr. Hron and liked him, on the other hand I understand that for most students it must have been terribly chaotic, and maybe that is why there was not much interest in this subject from their side. On the other hand, his preparation for exercises and lectures was absolutely incredible, plus how he uses technology is superb. He had everything connected with the devices he needed, his presentations were very well done, and for that, big thumbs up and lots of praise.

What I liked the most was Mr. Hron’s active interest in sharing a lot of information and bringing some life to the tutorials.

I liked exercises with Mr. Hron.
I was very satisfied with the exercises given by Dr. Hron. He provided us with quality materials and information on the topic every time, talked to us about our papers in a very professional manner, and always provided us with good and constructive feedback.
Mr. Hron’s approach: he explained to us very nicely how writing professional articles works in practice, how to think about topics, how to choose a focus. He was always willing to help us with everything and I especially appreciated his focus on the process rather than the result.
Dr. Hron tried to tailor the exercises to the students and find interesting insights in the field of innovation.
Dr. Hron knows how to present the material well.

Digital Business
At Aarhus I co-taught a master-level course in the IT business program, 80 students in 2019 and 120 in 2020. I designed an oral exam format that pushed students to connect material across lectures. It is still in use by the new course responsible. When a colleague went on sick leave I delivered half the lectures with minimal preparation time. Syllabus here.
I really liked the map that Michal presented in the last lecture. It helps to mentally organize all the literature.

Project Management
An advanced bachelor course at Aarhus for business communication students, 150 in the class and around 50 in two tutorial groups. I ran seminars, gave feedback on student projects (3.6/5 satisfaction), and delivered two interactive lectures on risk management. The course moved online mid-pandemic and I helped with the transition. Syllabus here.

Good slides. Really nice with breakout rooms where we could discuss our exam.
The introduced perspectives were well supported by pretty slides. It was interesting to hear about digital platforms from different perspectives. We can probably use a lot of this stuff in our project.
Michal’s method of teaching balances theoretical discourses with real-life cases and examples, and addresses the contrasts between theory and practice in an engaging way. The students were satisfied with his lectures and found them inspiring.

Thesis supervision
I supervise master-level theses on digital innovation, transformation, and entrepreneurship. I have supervised topics on privacy, IT adoption, business process management, and prompt engineering. I prefer to start from a broadly formulated area and shape the topic in conversation with the student. As an engaged scholar I prefer projects that depart from a real organizational problem.
